Is it really that hard to wake up early?

I like waking up early because it gives me a real boost knowing that I can accomplish my objectives whilst the rest of the world is still sleeping.

I know it’s not easy getting out of bed first thing in the morning, especially when it’s still cold and dark outside. So here’s two really simple things that you can do to combat morning fatigue and have more energy each day.

  1. Put the alarm on the other side of the room

When my alarm clock rings I know that I have to take my covers off, get out of bed and walk to the other side of my room to reach my alarm and turn it off.

This puts my mind into action and helps bring me to full consciousness.

Because my alarm is pretty loud and annoying too, I literally have to rush out of bed to get to it  – I can’t just press the snooze button and roll over.

Essentially, I’m out of bed and standing as soon as possible.

2. Move your body

Once I switch off my alarm I walk on the spot and give myself a shake about for a few seconds. This warms up the body and gets the blood pumping to my muscles, brain and other vital organs.

Shaking the body helps you to shake off all your sleep, and the desire to climb back into bed quickly fades away. I would recommend doing this for up to a minute until you feel pumped up and energised.

By this point I feel good about myself because I’m fired up and ready to start my day. And yes, it really is that simple.

P.S. If you want to feel incredible and be super productive you should get enough sleep and go to bed at a good time. Do that and you’ll soon find that waking up early is easy as pie.
