I just got an offer from the Conservatoire National Supérieur d’Art Dramatique in Paris to study BA ACTING. Exciting times! They’ve offered me a year but I’m uncertain if I’ll be able to do the whole year or just two terms. Either way, I will be in France next academic year!
I’ll be entering into their 2nd year programme which mostly involves workshops, classes and seminars with external practitioners and other professionals e.g. directors, actors, etc. In addition to this there will be a few classes in physical training, voice, acting for camera and stage, dramaturgy and the history of 20th century acting.
In order to prepare for my exchange abroad I think I need to have a more thorough understanding and knowledge of the french acting industry. More specially, I need to have secure knowledge on prominent directors, theatre companies, production companies, casting directors, agencies, theatre and actors. Therefore, from now onwards, I will have to undertake regular research to acquire this information. I’m additionally planning on reading french plays only from now onwards. I’m currently reading ‘The Misanthrope’ by Molière which is basically like my entry play into French dramatic writing. I feel relatively pressed for time but if I take this task one day and a day by doing a little each day I know I can make significant progress over the coming months. And given that the summer holidays are merely around the corner I will have a lot more free time.
I’m very much looking forward to living in France and expanding my horizons – I can see some much growth and development happening in all aspects of my life because I will be completely out of my confort zone. It’s been my dream to work in French cinema since I was 13/14 years old and I’ve wanted to studying acting in France for a few years now; it’s magical to know that I’m one giant step closer to realising these dreams. Yay me!
